How might we design robots to enhance wellness and workflow in factories?

NEW CHALLENGES

Physical and mental wellbeing on factory floors has come a long way, but still has miles to go.

Hi, I’m Luis.
I work for a small contract manufacturer. Over the last 15 years, a lot has changed…

It’s my job to evaluate, train, and manage new production runs with my robotic team. We’ve always taken on new products, but with our robot collaboration, we can take on a lot more—and our environment has never felt more enriching.

PRODUCTIVITY WITH EMPATHY

The production facility is designed to optimize project workflow  and human wellbeing.

Because every project we take on as a contract manufacturer is different, the factory is designed to be agile and smart. And because we're here for so many hours of the day, the space is designed to help us think and work at our best.
team pod

This is home base—our team pod—where the magic happens.

We’re an elite team of robot operators. We were skeptical at first—until we saw how integrally the robots work with us—not against us. We feel more valued than ever and make a great team.

Integrator Evaluator

Before we take on new projects, we need to evaluate whether our robots can handle the new production processes.

For each potential project we greenlight (and there are a lot), a robot evaluator helps assess if we have the capability to do it. Without the right tools or teams, we won’t take the job.

INTUITIVE UPDATES ON PROGRESS

They're great communicators. Working together to understand how things are going feels seamless.

CROSS LANGUAGE TRAINING

Our robots are multilingual. Training them can be as simple as talking to them in any languages. Or, I can just also instruct them with my hands.

Sometimes I struggle to get the exact words right when explaining a concept. Being able to switch between English and Spanish—or from verbal to visual training—is incredibly useful.

SUPPORT ROBOTS

Not all robots are there for productivity. Some take care of me, too.

Towards the end of my shift, I often need a bit of a boost, and my AI support robot knows it. Right when I need it, he brings me the nourishment and encouragement to get me through.
